Verizon Cell Tower Outage Repair Time (Cleveland OH Issues)
Main Post:
This is probably going to be a tough question. On the west side of Cleveland Ohio a cellular tower appears to have failed. (There’s now a sign inside the Verizon store that indicates this.) According to the workers the tower has been shut down going on three weeks.
I’m just wondering:
- Is a three week outage reasonable
- Is there a parts or manpower shortage where Verizon can’t repair the towers
- Is Verizon simply going to abandon the tower and not repair it
Three weeks seems like a horribly long time to let a cellular tower not operate - but at the same time this is a pretty complicated piece of equipment. The cellular service on the far west side of Cleveland Ohio seems to keep getting worse and worse in the past few years.

If I had no service for 3 weeks in your place, I’d probably consider switching - but if WiFi calling etc works, you could use that.
There’s really no way for any of us to answer how long it’ll take - cell networks are incredibly complicated. They could be waiting on parts, could be waiting on a crane to lift new parts up the tower, could be waiting on an emergency permit to allow them to work on it, etc etc. There are all sorts of things that complicate an effort like this.
I’m not sure the best way to get in contact with the engineering team at VZW to figure out an estimate - but otherwise, you’ve got a couple of options.
- Switch providers. AT&T or T-Mobile likely have towers in your area that work fine.
- If you have a dual SIM phone, you can pick up a secondary prepaid SIM for a month to cover you while Verizon is doing their work. Hopefully this would only be necessary for a month.
- Enable WiFi calling. This would only cover you at home, but it should mean you more reliably get texts and calls when connected to WiFi.
Auto Body Repair Suggestions
Main Post:
I was in an accident this morning, and could use some suggestions for an honest & decently priced auto body repair shop. Looking for one as close to Lakewood as possible. Thank you in advance!

I can't speak for the price but I have been very pleased with Steve Barry Buick's body shop. They were quick, thorough, and honest. And, were certified by my insurance. link
I can also warn you away from Lossman's. I couldn't even schedule an appointment with those clowns.... no way I will let them repair my car.

Good shoe repair place?
Main Post: Can anybody recommend a good shoe repair store? I have a really nice pair of boots that just need a bit of repair. The place I used to go to is long gone. Any help would be appreciated.
Top Comment: The Italian Cobbler on Clague near Center Ridge in Westlake is very good and he's fast too.

All - I'm trying to resole a pair of boots that I have (Clark's Desert Boot) and would love a few suggestions of shoe repair people that you guys would recommend. The last post on this was almost 4 years ago, and most of the suggestions were on the West Side. Thanks!
